Fiber Optic Taper is Rigid Fiber Image Transmission Components, like Fiber Optic Plate, it transmits the image by millions of Fiber filament fused together. Besides, it also provides the features of magnification or minify of image.
Fiber Optic Taper has the magnification ratio equals to the big end diameter / small end diameter. Normally, the magnification ratio can go to 5:1. In some condition, it can be maximized to 10:1. Currently, Fiber optic taper’s diameter can be ranged from 10– mm ~ 150+mm

In the fiber optic taper The reflection angle is equal to the angle of incident.Light enter from small end will become more collimated when exit from big end. And Vice versa.
When the incident angle exceeds the acceptance angle, the beam will not pass through the fiber.
Application of Fiber Optic Taper
Fiber Optic Taper has the feature of magnify and minify image. It could be used in many imaging applications, such as Medical Radiography, Display, Fluorescence, Crystallography etc…
Medical Radiography, Dental X-Ray, Non-destructive Detection, Scientific Camera
Fiber Optic Taper could be used in the device of Medical Radiography, such as Dental and Mammography.For example, in the Mammography, when exposed to X-Ray, Scintillator will absorb X-Ray and transfer them into visible light. Then pass through Fiber Optic Taper for minify the image signal. At last, Image sensor will receive the minified image signal and turns it into numerical signal. This type of system can greatly reduce exposure of X-ray on patients, which could protect personnel in the long run.
Another sample is the Dental X-Ray detection, a round or rectangle fiber optic taper is used to minify the image and connect to CCD or CMOS. The whole system is integrated into a plastic device, which could at least cover an image area of 1-2 teeth.
When it is necessary to obtain a large area of numerical image, people can also make several Fiber Optic Taper into an array. Majorly in the form of “Tiled” and “Slot” type array.

Fiber Optic Taper could be also used with OLED/LCD and other display devices,It provides design flexibility in order to magnify images in optical systems for near-eye or direct view applications. And the fiber optic size is very close to OLED pixel size to have a high resolution imagery.
Through Fiber Optic Tapers, Images are brought to the top-most surface without distortion and too much loss. Typical applications are viewfinder, Head mounted devices and microscopy.

Night vision technology study the Photoelectric conversion under condition of low illumination level, then intensify and reproduction the image signal.
Night vision equipment mainly includes 2 categories, Night vision Goggle and Night Vision Camera. The core of Night Vision is the image intensifier. It uses Fiber Optic Plate as its input/output windows. By applying a Photoelectric conversion and Intensifier technique, we can turn weak image result into clear one. If we put a suitable objective lens on the image intensifier, we can then observe the object in distance, this is the Night vision goggles. The night vision goggle improves greatly for army operation during night time.
However, the night vision goggle can only be watched for 1-2 person, and the image results cannot be re-process, or save for further transmission actions. Thus, in order to satisfy the requirement of modern combat, that night vision equipment should be able to transfer the image from front line to command center instantly, and image result should be saved properly. Then here comes the night vision camera technique. Compared with night vision goggles, night vision camera can realize a long distance transmission of image or remote control recording.
