Brief
This paper examines how the aging of sensitive optical fiber components affects the measurement accuracy of All-Fiber Optical Current Transformer (AFOCT) systems.
Summary
This paper investigates how the aging of the sensitive optical fiber in All-Fiber Optical Current Transformer (AFOCT) systems degrades their measurement accuracy. It uses Jones matrices to model the system and analyzes the impact of birefringence changes in the sensing fiber due to accelerated aging, finding a significant relative error (0.2955%) after a simulated 3 months of aging, which exceeds acceptable limits for operational accuracy. The study emphasizes the need for calibration to mitigate these aging effects on AFOCT systems.
