Brief
This article proposes a uniform laser illumination system for 3D imaging using a fiber array that outputs multiple laser beams from a single pulsed laser source via a fiber splitter, achieving more even light distribution and better energy utilization compared to traditional methods.
Summary
This article introduces a novel laser illumination system for laser 3D imaging that uses a fiber array to generate a dot-array light source, formed by splitting a single pulsed infrared laser beam into 64 equal energy beams via a fiber splitter. This approach aims to achieve more uniform light distribution and higher laser energy utilization compared to traditional flood illumination methods that rely on shaping Gaussian beams with lenses or Dammann gratings. The reflected laser light from a target is then captured by an APD planar-array detector, where each pixel corresponds to a point light source. Simulation experiments validated the effectiveness of this fiber array-based illumination system in providing more stable transmission and detection, especially when dealing with non-planar target surfaces and system noise.
